Getting out and having fun and adventure without a car can seem quite a challenge in South Devon (and beyond). But there is an impressive range of options to help us go exploring in climate-friendly ways.

Totnes Climate Hub volunteers have put together four leaflets with a taster menu of ideas for low-carbon travel and trips around our beautiful local area.

So let’s have an adventure and experience the joy of connecting with our beautiful local scenery and wildlife using our feet, cycling and public transport.

Here are some highlights. Download each leaflet for more details.

Buses and Trains

  1. Local bus fares are capped at £2 per journey until October 2023 – so it’s a great time to explore by bus!
  2. Find a lovely walk route from local train stations at Great Scenic Railways.
  3. Take the newly re-opened trainline to Okehampton via Exeter for great cycling and walking straight from the station.

  3. Picnic on Dartmoor with the ‘Haytor Hoppa’ 271 bus from Newton Abbot station every Saturday throughout the summer.
